Kwanzaa Day 7 Imani/Faith Living the Seven Principles with Angela Douglas

Kwanzaa Day 7 Imani/Faith To believe with all our heart in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders and the righteousness and victory of our struggle. We have to close the vision deficit and forge an image of ourselves to which the future must conform. (Dr. Eddie Glaude). On this final day of Kwanzaa we live the 7 principles with Angela Douglas Co-Director of Vera House Inc. Without unity, we cannot begin our most important work, but without faith we cannot sustain it. Unity brings us together and harnesses our strength, but faith in each other and the Good, the Right, the Beautiful inspires and sustains the coming together and the commitment to take the work to its end.(Maulana Karenga)

Kwnazaa Day 6 Kuumba/Creativity Living the Seven Principles with Carrie Mae Weems.

Kwanzaa Day 6 Kuumba/Creativity To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it. “Kuumba (Creativity) logically follows from and is required by the principle of Nia. It is a commitment to being creative within the context of the national community vocation of restoring our people to their traditional greatness and thus leaving our community more beneficial and beautiful than we, i.e., each generation, inherited it. The principle has both a social and spiritual dimension and is deeply rooted in the social and sacred teachings of African societies”.(Maulana Karenga) Living the 7 Principles with Carrie Mae Weems.
